About Us
We exist to move people forward.
Since 1998, The Torres Community Shelter has followed the proven formula of compassion + dignity + accountability. Why? Because it works.
The statistics speak for themselves. We are proud to share that we average 1 success per day. That’s one person, every day, that moves from the streets into stable housing. They do so with resources and the support they need to continue moving forward with their lives.
The Torres Community Shelter is a non-profit emergency shelter for people who are experiencing homelessness. We provide support to men, women and families with children who reside in Butte County. In order to ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone, all of our guests must understand and agree to follow shelter guidelines.

Our guests are diverse…
75% are NOT chronically homeless
15% are children under the age of 17
8% are military veterans
60% have NO substance abuse issues
